Autumn Reset: A Simple Refresh for Your Car

As autumn settles in, we naturally start to spend more time indoors — but for many of us, our cars are still an extension of home. They carry us through early mornings, quick errands, and cozy weekend drives under changing trees. Before the cold weather arrives, this is the perfect time to give your car a gentle reset — a blend of practical care and comfort that helps you move through the season feeling grounded and ready. A Simple Refresh A clean car just feels better — and a few small steps now can make winter drives so much easier later. Air it out: Roll down the windows and let the fresh air move through and carry out the stuffiness of summer. Lighten the load: Remove only what doesn’t need to travel with you anymore. A few open surfaces can make even a small car feel more spacious. Wipe away the dust: A quick swipe of the dashboard or console helps your space feel cared for, not perfect. If time permits, vacuum seats and floors to...

Prepare for the Darkness by Embracing Light and Order

A s the days grow shorter and the sunlight softens, it’s natural to feel the shift toward the darker months. But this transition is also an invitation—to soak up the outdoors while you still can, and to ready your home and routines for the months ahead. Try out some of the suggestions below.  You don’t have to do everything—or even anything—but make it a priority to step outside, feel the crisp air , and appreciate the sun while it lingers. And when you return inside, wrap yourself in a blanket or sip something warm as a reminder that each season brings its own kind of comfort. Step Outside and Savor the Season:  Before winter’s grip takes hold, spend as much time outside as possible. In a world where clutter—both physical and mental—can easily overwhelm us, Life Styled by Shira Gill offers a refreshing, intentional approach to curating a home and lifestyle that truly reflects who we are. Unlike traditional home organization books that focus solely on tidying up, Life Styled blends minimalism with personal style, guiding readers toward a space that feels both functional and beautiful.   As someone on a journey toward purposeful balance and inspired connections , I found this book aligned with my desire to create a home that not only looks good but also supports my values and daily rhythms. Here’s what stood out to me and how I plan to apply it.   My Key Takeaways from Life Styled Find a signature look that makes you feel like the best version of yourself and fully embrace it. Book Review: Simple Matters by Erin Boyle – A Guide to Living with Less

Simple Matters by Erin Boyle beautifully captures the idea that a meaningful life isn’t about accumulating more—it’s about cherishing less. Through a thoughtful and practical approach, Boyle encourages readers to embrace simplicity in a way that feels authentic, functional, and beautiful.   The book is structured around key aspects of daily life: decluttering, simplifying, organizing, decorating, bath and beauty, getting dressed, cooking and entertaining, cleaning, and ultimately, thriving in the space you’ve intentionally created. Boyle’s guidance is refreshing and rooted in real-life experiences, making it both inspiring and accessible.   Funny story: I ordered the book from the library and waited around a week to pick it up at my local branch. Days later, while decluttering my books in the front room, I realized I had already purchased a copy of the book, but, obliviously, hadn't gotten around to reading it yet. My Key Takeaways from  Simple Matters Clearing...

Book Review: Destination Simple: Everyday Rituals for a Slower Life

As I continue to learn more about slow living, I came across the book Destination Simple: Everyday Rituals for a Slower Life by Brooke McAlary—a book so small in size yet packed with powerful insights. It distills slow living into its simplest form, offering practical ways to create a life that feels more intentional and present.   The book is structured into three key sections: Rituals – Five foundational habits to anchor your days.   Rhythms – Establishing morning and evening routines to create flow.   Checking In – Letting go of the myth of perfect balance and embracing "tilting."   One concept that really stood out to me was tilting : the idea that life isn’t about maintaining a perfect balance at all times. Instead, it’s about shifting energy where it’s needed most and accepting that some areas of life will naturally take priority over others at different times .   McAlary explains it well:   Tilting is about being aware...

Letting Go & Moving Forward

The past few years have felt like a cycle of setbacks. Just as I regain my footing after one challenge—whether it’s family drama, job loss, or another unexpected twist—something else seems to knock me back down. Even the small disruptions feel overwhelming, leaving me wondering if I’ll ever catch a break.   But this year, I’m shifting my mindset. I’ve accepted that life will always throw obstacles my way, and instead of waiting for the “perfect time,” I’m making the most of the quiet moments. When life gives me a pause, no matter how brief, I’m choosing to take small, intentional steps forward.   And so far, it has been working really well. I began with our home. With retirement on the horizon, downsizing is inevitable—but figuring out where to start felt overwhelming. Enter Martha Stewart’s Organizing—a guide from the queen of home organization herself. I dove straight into Part Two: Organize Your Home, and I have to say, the results have been incredibly rewarding. So f...
